Live 105 playlist February 12, 2006

Now's probably as good a time as any to mention this, but 2006 was a bit of a transitional year for Live 105. Their flagship morning show- Howard Stern- had left terrestrial radio, and alternative stations across the country were flipping formats, including San Jose rival station Channel 104.9, which became a Spanish station on New Year's Day. With the format at a crossroads, Live 105 decided to change its brand to reflect that they were now listener-driven. They would tout this fact in their promos, their new morning show was called "The Morning Music Co-op" (although this title was dropped within a year), and Soundcheck- the station's "new music" program since 1999- would feature listeners giving their opinions about that night's selections. There were also other feature programs that emphasized the listeners' tastes.

One of these programs was College DJ of the Week, which aired on Sunday mornings. In it, a DJ from a college radio station would come in and spin lesser-known tracks in addition to the station's usual playlist offerings. I didn't write down the names of any of the DJs who participated, but this person chose to play T. Rex, Broken Social Scene, and a Spoon song I didn't recognize at the time (I'd probably know it if I heard it now.)

1. T. Rex- Metal Guru
